The Offroad Ready Big Red Bash Adventure!
Join us in 2019 for the Big Red Bash Adventure Tour! Every July, Birdsville’s iconic Big Red Bash kicks off under the open skies of Australia’s Simpson Desert. Thousands of people from around Australia, and the world, head into the desert for the most remote music festival on the planet.
Be part of history and experience a once in a generation spectacle as MIDNIGHT OIL headline their first multi day Australian music festival in over 22 years! With 16 other fantastic Australian artists and bands playing over 3 days and nights, including THE LIVING END, KASEY CHAMBERS, BUSBY MAROU. RICHARD CLAPTON and many more, this will be a unique outback experience you’ll be talking about for years to come.

It all starts with the journey. Whether you set out on a road trip, hop on a plane or jump on the Rock'n'Roll Charter Bus you’re in for an epic outback adventure. Birdsville’s concert is definitely off the beaten track – but that’s what makes it so special!
And, if you want to camp for longer, our early entry passes let you access the Bashville campsite up to two days beforehand.
Our roadtrip will start earlier through some of Australia's most unique and remote outback locations (More details on the specific itinerary to come shortly). However you get there, you’ll have three nights under the stars, dancing to the sweet sounds of Aussie music legends as they rock the desert.
And, there’s plenty of fun during the day too. You’ll find heaps of exciting activities to cross off your bucket list or keep the family entertained.
Grab an outback adventure selfie, and get your adrenalin pumping! Fly down the dunes on a sand board, ride a camel through the breath-taking scenery or buzz across the landscape in a helicopter. Why not kick up some dust boot-scooting on the desert floor? Or you can catch some beach volleyball on Big Red and even try your hand at indigenous craft making. There’s something for everyone at the Big Red Bash.
Whether you’re staying in Birdsville or at the ‘Bashville’ campsite, you can catch the handy shuttle bus that runs between the two. It makes exploring the town easy and getting around hassle-free. We'll be camping though - that's part of the adventure!
You can even find your inner Priscilla and help the Royal Flying Doctors Service (RFDS) in the process, by joining the Big Red Bash's drag race with a difference – the RFDS Bashville “Drags”. Throw on your ‘drag rags’ and join in the race that starts at the top of Big Red. But, if running will ruin your ‘look’, you can compete with the other fashionistas and enter Fashions in the Desert. Both these fun-filled events offer you the chance to win prizes and raise money to support the wonderful Royal Flying Doctors Service.
So, what are you waiting for? You’ve never had a better reason to get your family or friends together and head into the outback. Grab your camping gear, hook up the trailer or caravan or hire a tent. But don’t miss out on your chance to get down in the red dust at this fantastic all-ages Australian outback music festival. Everyone’s invited. You can even bring your dog!
